Houssam Boughdadi Portfolio

About Me

I’m Houssam, a software developer in Gothenburg. At PowerCell Group I build internal systems from idea to production: desktop tools that talk to PLC systems, web apps and REST APIs, certificate-based access control, and CI/CD on Docker and Kubernetes.

I came to software from teaching, which taught me to explain things clearly and stay calm when things break. In my spare time I build things I actually use, like a self-hosted shopping list app that runs on my home server.

Projects

Barcode Shopping

Scan the barcode of an empty package as you throw it away, and it lands on the household shopping list. Self-hosted on my home server, works on Android, iPhone and PC, with no cloud dependency.

What was hard: realtime list updates with Server-Sent Events behind a reverse proxy, and camera barcode scanning that also works reliably on iOS Safari.

DnD Deck of Wonder

Draw a random card from the Deck of Wonder, deliberately over-engineered with Domain-Driven Design and Clean Architecture.

Why: a small, well-known domain made it a good place to practise DDD layering without the business logic getting in the way.

Serverless Chat on AWS

A chat web app where every route runs as a serverless function instead of a server sitting idle, built and deployed with AWS SAM.

What I learned: structuring a whole web app as Lambda functions behind API Gateway, with secrets kept in AWS SSM instead of the code.
